August 2023 - Yellow-legged Furrow Bee
This little bee has taken sometime to rest in the pretty pink Lesser Bindweed flower on a cool August day, giving me the perfect chance to photograph the tiny insect. |

Flying ant day
The taking off point for clouds of unmated queens and male flying ants take to the skies, seeding many new colonies of these fascinating little insects. |

- Scarborough cliff face
Kittiwakes are using buildings and bridges as urban cliff faces to build their nests. I photographed these nests on the side of a hotel in Scarborough. It was a unique and special view for these elegant birds. I hope the chicks live a long and successful life with many young of their own, reared on cityscape cliffs. |

Barn Owl
It was both a silent and spectacular sight to see this beautiful Barn Owl hunting in the late afternoon. It flew low of a meadow, occasionally hovering and then in disappeared into the long grass, minutes later it flew into the distance, something small and furry clutched in its claws |

Peregrine Falcon
I hope that you will be visiting church over the Easter weekend. When you do, look up, one of God's creatures may just have made His house their home too! Peregrine Falcons have recognised that church and cathedral towers make excellent places to build their nest and rear their chicks, as it is always a marvel to see these powerful birds! |

On a winters day, small but bright blue tits dart between bare tree branches. These tiny birds looking bold and beautiful in the open, with nothing to distract from their beautiful colourful feathers!

In amongst a flock of Jackdaws, one stood out as unique. Unusually light grey all over, you can see how different it looked compared to its friend.

I watched this wasp move up and down this leaf and stem, licking the honeydew covered surface as it went. It flew off happy and left the aphid colony untouched! |

Grey Heron stalking the edge of a lake
I got to spend a relaxing morning, watching this elegant heron stalk the edge of this lake. I don't know if it's hard work paid off as it eventually disappeared from sight, but I hope it got a good meal in the end. |
