June 2023 - Scarborough cliff face

Kittiwakes are using buildings and bridges as urban cliff faces to build their nests. I photographed these nests on the side of a hotel in Scarborough. It was a unique and special view for these elegant birds. I hope the chicks live a long and successful life with many young of their own, reared on cityscape cliffs.

March 2023 - Peregrine Falcon

I hope that you will be visiting church over the Easter weekend. When you do, look up, one of God's creatures may just have made His house their home too! Peregrine Falcons have recognised that church and cathedral towers make excellent places to build their nest and rear their chicks, as it is always a marvel to see these powerful birds!

I watched this wasp move up and down this leaf and stem, licking the honeydew covered surface as it went. It flew off happy and left the aphid colony untouched!

January 2021 - Fieldfare in an Ash tree

There are days in winter when it is cold and miserable, you look out the window longing for the sun. That makes the clear sunny days so special, even in the cold!
It lights up the natural world and shows just how beautiful winter wildlife can really be!
